Marine AI Data Catalog SiteProduced by MAIDEC

Through the collection of big data related to the ocean and analysis using AI(Artificial Intelligence), etc., we promote the creation of new industries, education and research guidance in the WISE Program, and academic research in cooperation with society at large, in order to develop the marine society and foster highly specialized human resources for the future.

About Data Catalog Site

Purpose of this Site

The database will be constructed by utilizing ocean-related data accumulated through the university's education and research activities to date, with the aim of promoting the use of big data and AI in marine industries, leading social implementation, and creating a social impact.

The main pillar of this plan is to establish a scheme that allows various institutions to flexibly utilize the University's ocean big data on the premise that it will contribute to solving social issues related to the ocean. The University will first visualize the wide variety of marine, fisheries, and maritime-related data collected, accumulated, and used by the University as a data catalog, and operate it as a data catalog site provided by the University that can be used for joint research in industry-university-government collaboration from education and research within the University. In addition, the catalog site will include data attributes (type of data elements, collection period, location, conditions, etc.) and sample data, as well as data usage conditions and examples of use, to enable not only searches by data attributes, but also issue-driven, purposeful researchers and businesses in Japan and overseas to find the data they need.

In addition, by proactively identifying the needs for AI Utilization in industry, mainly through the Marine AI Consortium, we will build a data catalog site that matches the needs of the marine industry with the data and AI technologies possessed by the university, and establish a system that enables the university to take the lead in social implementation of AI technologies and create social impact, including technical support and joint research.

By promoting these initiatives, the University will realize its vision, contribute to the achievement of the Basic Ocean Policy, SDGs, etc., and make significant progress in creating social impact.
